System Corruption: The Rot is at the Top
Three of the most critical departments in our federal government are the Department of State, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Justice.
This week, we are seeing exactly what happens when there is a complete mismanagement of the government’s mission. The rot is at the top.
First, the Department of Justice. They pursued a case against political opponents—a case so weak that a federal judge just threw it out. But now, the White House is saying they will decide to appeal. Since when does the White House have any say in matters of independent justice? It is ridiculous, and it is dangerous.
Next, the Department of State. They have put forward a Russian-made "peace plan" and claimed it as their own. It is a plan that absolves Russia of all guilt in a war they have perpetrated for years against the citizens of Ukraine. It ignores the war crimes. It ignores the downing of a civilian airliner over Ukrainian skies. That isn't a peace plan; it’s a surrender.
And finally, the Department of Defense. This is a total embarrassment. The Secretary of Defense has actually suggested that Senator Mark Kelly—a combat veteran and astronaut—should be recalled into the military to be court-martialed.
His crime? Reminding us that soldiers have a duty to disobey illegal orders.
This threat comes from the same Secretary who illegally and improperly shared classified information over a non-secure channel with a journalist.
The corruption and the rot are coming from the very top.
And right now, there is zero Congressional oversight over any of these actions. The Republican majority is looking the other way.
The American people deserve accountability. We deserve a government that lives up to the mission of the United States. And if this Congress won’t provide it, we need to elect one that will.
