Weekly Sprint Report #5: Earning Our Support
In our fifth Weekly Sprint Report, our campaign officially shifted from building our foundation to the hard work of earning support in the community.
Our biggest accomplishment this week was completing and submitting the comprehensive candidate questionnaire for the
National Education Association (NEA). It was a fantastic opportunity to put our pro-public education values on the record and share my own experience as both a product of and a parent in our public schools. You can read our full, detailed answers to their questions in the supplemental attachment we submitted.
A major part of our sprint this week was also a deep dive into the digital advertising systems we plan to use. As a "Systems Builder" running a fiscally disciplined campaign, it's critical we understand the rules and the costs. Here's what we learned:
Platform Rules: Some platforms, like TikTok, do not permit any political advertising at all.
Verification is Key: Other platforms, like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, require a detailed verification process for any political candidate to ensure transparency, a process we have now begun.
Cost Per Conversion: Initial estimates from platforms like YouTube suggest a cost of around $10 per conversion (like a click from an ad to our page). This is a key data point that we will work to optimize and improve.
Every one of these steps is about building a professional, substantive, and people-powered effort. The support so far has been amazing. Thank you for being a part of it.
