System of Justice: A Stand for Liberty and Due Process

I want to talk about the most important system our founders ever designed: our system of justice.

It's built on a simple, powerful promise, found in our Declaration of Independence: that all of us are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights, including the right to Liberty. It's a promise that ends our Pledge of Allegiance: 'with liberty and justice for all.'

But right now, that system is under attack from our own government. The current administration's immigration crackdown has reportedly led to American citizens and legal residents being rounded up without judicial warrants, denied due process, and confronted by federal agents.

This isn't a policy debate; this is a constitutional crisis. Due process is not a suggestion; it is a right.

And the Republican Congress has turned a blind eye. Our own representative has been silent, failing in his most basic duty to provide a check on an unbalanced administration and to protect the constitutional rights of the people he serves.

As a System Engineer, I have a deep and abiding respect for well-designed systems. Our system of justice is designed to protect the innocent and ensure that no one is above the law. When we allow our government to ignore that system, we betray our nation's deepest values.

This policy is wrong, it is immoral, and it is unjust. I stand against it, because it stands against everything we are as a country. It's time to send a representative to Washington who will honor their oath to the Constitution and fight for liberty and justice for all.
